EuPF input to the consultation on the Circular Economy Act
As Europe advances towards a circular economy, EuPF calls for an efficient, fair and transparent implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) and consistent enforcement of EU waste rules. For packaging applications, these measures are essential to channel investments into collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure, ensuring that circularity delivers measurable results. The forthcoming Circular Economy Act offers a unique opportunity to reinforce these principles across all Member States, ensuring coherent implementation, stronger enforcement and targeted reinvestment of EPR fees in high-impact circularity measures. An industry-led and transparently financed EPR system is the most effective way to scale up the collection, sorting and recycling of plastic films across Europe. It must be anchored in Article 8a WFD, underpinned by strict earmarking of fees, and supported by consistent enforcement and equivalent standards for imports.
